WINTER SOLSTICE GATHERING
A Mindful Photography Journey into Stillness, Reflection, and Connection
Saturday 20th December 6pm - 8.30 pm (GMT)
Online Event - via Zoom
Held the day before the Winter Solstice
Learn to See and Appreciate the Darkness
With the longest night of the year approaching, winter offers us a natural moment to slow down and notice. The day before the solstice becomes a quiet threshold in the year—a chance to pause, take a breath, and pay attention to the subtle light and deep shadow that define this season.
This two-and-a-half-hour online gathering brings people together to explore the winter solstice through mindful photography and guided reflection. Using imagery as our anchor, we’ll look closely at the relationship between darkness and light, and how this speaks to our own experiences, challenges, and moments of gratitude. Through observation and gentle inquiry, we’ll explore how light can illuminate what’s often overlooked—both in the world around us and within our own lives.
Through a blend of teaching, guided imagery, reflection prompts, and group sharing, you’ll be invited to:
Rest in the stillness of the season
Explore the depth and meaning of darkness as part of a natural cycle
Slow down enough to truly see
Reflect on how this turning point in the year resonates with your own life
Connect with winter’s rhythms through contemplative photography
Throughout our time together, you’ll experience carefully selected photographs that showcase the essence of winter - soft light, deep shadow, quiet surfaces, bare landscapes. These images will act as starting points for contemplation, helping you tap into memory, curiosity, and emotional insight. Photography becomes a way of seeing more clearly, offering space to reflect on your own journey while sharing the experience with others.
