Connect with Kim one to one online this winter to be supported with your photography through the coldest and darkest months of the year.
The winter can be a tough time for many. The colder, darker days can make it a challenge to get outdoors, creativity can be low and our wellbeing can suffer as a result. Many people feel isolated in the winter too and find themselves retreating from the world. This isn't always a bad thing. After all, the season of winter is made for rest and rejuvenation but if this leads to us feeling uninspired, isolated and even depressed, it can be a challenge for us to navigate the darker months.
Looking at this time of year more positively, a great way to embrace the season of rest is to explore our creative side, learn new things and get outdoors during daylight hours. Both creativity and gentle exercise are recognised forms of rest. Engaging in both during the winter can help us gain a sense of wellbeing when we may struggle to feel it most. Looking at the winter from a photography perspective, the light at this time of year is like no other season! It is filled with so much opportunity, and even after dark, the night sky can be so magical to connect with.
Investing in some tailored mentoring can be a great way to explore these things. By doing so, you will have a friendly companion by your side, offering you ideas and exercises to motivate you to pick up your camera and get outdoors.
I will work with you one to one to guide you to identify ways that you personally can implement more photography into your life. Each week for 6 weeks (week beginning 8th January) we will meet via Zoom at a pre-arranged time. During the initial call, I will get to know you. We will identify your personal interests, what you may find challenging and discuss what you'd like to get out of the programme. During weeks two to five, I will design personalised mindful photography exercises for you to practice each week based on your personal interests. We will take the time to discuss these each week, along with how you found each exercise, and look through the images you've created. During our final call, we will do a recap for the programme, look back on the images you've created and discuss what you have uncovered about yourself over the 6 weeks. On completion you will have a bank of exercises and images to look back on and explore further.
Though this programme my intention is to empower you to get outdoors and explore your interests through the art of photography. In doing so, you will be able to feel the positive benefits that spending time in nature and exploring your creativity can bring.
Having a mentor offers you the chance to have a friendly companion by your side, who can support and encourage you forwards on your journey. A good mentor will listen to your needs and be on hand to offer suggestions and ideas to support you in overcoming any challenges you many have. They are also on hand to encourage you forwards with your ideas and sign post you to any resources that may be able to assist you.
Kim has been mentoring others from as far back as her school days. In her final year of secondary school, she volunteered to be a buddy to a group of first year students, and became a peer supporter for those who needed additional support. Throughout her nursing training, and career, she was responsible for mentoring younger students and junior members of staff, offering guidance and supporting them in meeting their learning objectives. In her mid twenties she did a years internship with the RSPB. Through this she was given the role of supporting short term volunteers through their placements. Since becoming self employed, Kim has offered much support to her clients both through online mentoring and in person workshops. Throughout 2023 she has been studying an online course in self-care and wellness coaching and has just completed a Working with Mindful Photography training programme. Throughout all of these ventures, she has gained much experience in supporting others in progressing forwards with their interests and goals.

"Kim Grant is a real inspiration and her Mentorship Programme has been such a great experience. As a keen landscape photographer of many years I was looking for fresh ideas, direction and purpose. I could not have found a better mentor than Kim. She is a tremendous encourager and helped me see possibilities I might otherwise have overlooked."
